Christmas Scent

Are you thinking of decorating the Christmas Tree or Ship and searching for cookie and gingerbread recipes? Have you already done that and your only worry is what gifts to buy for your beloved persons? Then you are the kind of person who knows how to enjoy a preparation period and you are already living the holiday spirit.
Two wonderful Christmas ingredients, that combine very well and have many beneficial properties, are cinnamon and orange.
I have recently written about the properties of cinnamon (read relevant post here), and it is well known that oranges contain valuable minerals (iron 1%, magnesium 3%, potassium 4%, phosphorus 2%, zinc 1% ) and vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant and invigorating substance. In aromatherapy the essential oil of orange is used mainly to combat negative feelings, fortify the mood and create an atmosphere of euphoria and positive thinking.
After all it is not a coincidence that melomakarona, Greek Christmas small honey cakes that I absolutely adore, contain both of these ingredients. Use the following recipe to prepare them and enjoy without any guilt!
I am also suggesting you to make the following blend, which you can use as an air freshener or add to the oil burner, in order to give your home an extra Christmas scent. Of course if you like its smell it is absolutely safe to use as a personal perfume too.

Christmas scent

30ml deionized water
5ml alcohol 80o or vodka
10 drops eo cinnamon
10 drops eo orange
10 drops eo juniper or pine
10 drops eo jasmine

Melomakarona

Ingredients
3 tee cups olive oil
1 tee cup sugar - preferably brown
1/2 tee cup orange juices
1/2 wine glass cointreau
9 tee cup wheat flour
2 tee spoons baking powder
1 tee spoon baking soda
50 gram ground walnuts
1 table spoon mixture of ground cinnamon and clove

For the syrup
2 tee cups sugar - preferably brown
1 tee cup water
3 tee cups honey

Directions
1. Mix sugar with oil and beat well. Add all other liquid ingredients.
2. Add gradually flour, baking powder, soda and cinnamon with clove and mix well.
3. Make with your hands small loafs or heart shaped cookies, place them on a lightly oiled pan and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes at 180oC.
4. Mix all the ingredients for the syrup and heat until honey and sugar melt completely.
5. When cookies are baked remove from oven and pour syrup over them. Leave them to soak for 30 minutes, turn them over and pour some more syrup.
6. Place them on Christmas plates and sprinkle with ground walnuts.

My suggestions:

Invigorate your body and lift your mood mixing in your shower gel a few drops of orange essential oil or use a fantastic orange soap. You may also use it on children. It is completely safe and you will notice how they will become more relaxed and joyful!

Keep a sense of euphoria and positiveness throughout the whole day moisturizing your body with an orange fragrant lotion.
