Chakra

According to Ayurveda, the ancient traditional medicinal system of India, the human body is full  of vital energy (prana) which flows through seven channels called chakra. The unhindered and smooth flow of energy through chakras is ensuring the proper function of our nervous system, organs, hormones and contributes to maintaining spiritual balance and mental clarity.
Aromatherapy can be applied for balancing the chakras by using a small amount of essential oils (one drop is adequate) in aura massage (soft touch or no contact).
The seven chakras and some of the appropriate essential oils that act beneficially are:
Root chakra: shows the relation of a person  with the material world and natural needs (vetiver, myrrh, patchouli).
Sacral chakra: associated with sensational feelings and sexuality (jasmine, rose, sandalwood, ylang-ylang).
Navel chakra: related  with personal power, selfcontrol and interpersonal relationships (juniper, geranium).
Heart chakra: defines the ability to express feelings of love, compassion, forgiveness (rose, neroli, ylang-ylang, bergamot).
Throat chakra: the center of vocabular communication and personal expression (chamomile, angelica root, rosewood).
Third eye chakra: expresses intuition, wisdom, internal growth (rosemary, thyme, basil).
Crown chakra: related with mental functions and spiritual quests (sandalwood, frankincense, myrrh, lavender).
A very interesting quiz at Eclectic Energies will inform you which of your energy chanels are open and which need to be strengthened.
